Adjusting with the
Adjust dialog choices
Brightness and
Contrast
Notice that you can change the
portion of the photo to better see how your settings
are applied.

Color Balance
You'll need to experiment carefully
with the three variables.

Flash/Backlighting - Flash
In this case it was possible to open up the
shadow area. Of course, it is usually used with
photographs of people to better see detail in the
foreground.

Flash/Backlighting -
Backlighting
In this case a Backlighting adjustment was used
to take some of the brightness out of the
background.

Saturation
This is one of the best ways to improve a
lackluster photo.

Sharpness
This is the sharpening tool you
should use because you will be better able to
finetune just how much unsharp mask will be applied.
The Crop
Tool is really quite nice.

Effects - Photo Edge
Nice choices - not 'cute', amateurish ones! Other
effects include changing your photo to black and
white or sepia toned, you can add picture frames and
borders too. (Picture frame possibilities are
ghastly though, as they are in most programs.)
'Thinify' is another tool which
will stretch or 'thin' a photo. You can Maintain
Image Size or not. Other Special effects:
Ripples, Glass Blocks, Edges, Fisheye and Invert.

The Text Tool
has been very well done... better than in many
full-fledged image editing programs, because you can
work right on the photo rather than in a separate
box.

Other Options -
shown in the Tools menu.
Make Movie prepares a Quick Time movie from a set
of several images. The Catalog and Database options
are beyond the purview of this article. Explore the
Options to set Preferences.

The Share Menu
There are fun things to do here!
